NIGHT ATTACK ON HAMADAN.
COSSACKS SAVE THE TOWN. (Received 12.30 p.m.) PETROGRAD, November 23. Teheran advices state that several hundred gendarmes and irregulars officered by Germans made a night attack on Hamadan, which was defended by the Cossacks of the Legation guard. They were forced to retire, but saved the town. Hainadan is the capital Itown of the province of the same nanie; and is situated nearly 200 miles to the south-west of Telieran. Shiraz is one of the principal cities of southern Persia, being tbe capital of the province of Earsistan. The nearest j>ort is'Bushire, about 100 miles distant, near the head of the Persian Gulf. . J
