WAISTCOATS FOR OUR SOLDIERS.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —With the object of letting a little light in on the subject, I pen you thoee few line*. Judging by thp sample I have seen, these article* are simply useless. Auckland people mutt have money to burn. You might just an well give them a brown paper waistcoat, for the fir«t time worn they will be like a bit of tripe, and the men will consign them to the rubbish tip. They are worn outside the coat, and are euppoaed to keep a man dry as well as warm. Now. will these things do this! Basil as now dressed will absorb the water like s eponge, and the least drop 'of rain will make it like palp. They should be dreeeed with the wool left on; if not, well, then, s«e that they are dressed greasy, so ac they will keep the wet out. To my mind, you would be doing far more good if you gare our boys a jjood warm sweater thar, the rubbish you , are now wasting your money on. —1 am, etc., A. \V. EATON', Dfvonport. Saddler.
