ROUT OF THE SECOND ATTACK ON CANAL.
-CAME EIGHT MILES FROM CANAL ATTACKED.
WELLINGTON, March 24. The Prime Minister has received the following cablegram from the High / Commissioner, dated March 23, 9-55 ajn.:— ; A report from Cairo states that on Monday, at dawn, our air patrol • discovered a party of the enemy at El Kubli, opposite buez. Shots were exchanged. The airmen estimated the number of the enemy at 1,000, composed of infantry, artillery, and a few cavalry. The guns at El Kubli opened fire, inflicting casualties on the enemy, who letired and fanned a. camp eight miles east of the Canal. Early in the morning a force under General Younghusband attacked and routed the enemy, who • are now in full retreat. i A prisoner says that tbe Turkish force came direct from Bir el Saba, ; taking twelve-days to do the journey.
