BIG PROFITS ON WATER.
■ ONE OF REMCERA'S SIDELINES. The union of Remuera with the city has rather altered the position of the ' Tamaki West Road Board as a consumer of city water. Hitherto the disI trict lias received its supply through ' the Remuera Board, which paid tbe city 1/- per 1000 gallons, and retailed it out to the Tamaki Board at 1/4 per 1000, representing a clear profit of 33 1-3 per cent, for allowing it to run through Remuera. This morning the .Tamaki Board approached the Mayor on the subject, i Mr. Campbell, the Board's chairman, suggesting that the city would give j them better terms. i The Mayor*. You mean now that the middleman has gone you want to get the water at 1/-. i Mr. Campbell: Yes. if possible. The Mayor: Well, we shall be in no woree position, because we were only getting 1/- from the Remuera Road Board, and I shall certainly ask the Council to grant your request.
