HOSPITAL BOARD.
The Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met last night. Present: Messrs. M. ,I.' Coyle (chairman). I-\ Dye. L. J. Bagnall. J. Howe, P.- J. Xerheny S • Ji ; Harhutt. P. M. Mackay. A. Hall Skelton. D. Teed, W. Wallace, and Dr. Florence Keller. Mr. Hall Skelton was welcomed as a member of the Board representing the combined Auckland and Mount Albert districts. | HONORARY MEDICAL, STAFF. The election of members of the honorary visiting and consulting staff for the ensuing year rtvrulted as follows:—Honorary physicians, Dre. C. H. Tewsley and E. Williams; honorary surgeons, Messrs. C. Alckin and A. Kinder: honorary opthalmic surgeon, Mr. W. A. Fairclough; honorary surgeon for ear, nose and throat diseases, Mr. A. G. Talbot: honorary anaesthetists. Drs. W. Bruce. G. L. Cawkwell and H. F. Holmden: honorary dental surgeon, Mr. J. X. Risbwortli. Mr. Gore Killon was appointed to the honorary consulting staff. , A motion of thanks was passed for the retiring- members of the honorary staff. FACILITIES FOR CLIXfCAL STUDY. A letter from the Dean of the Medical Faculty, of Otago University inquired if tho Board would be prepared- to afford facilities to senior medical students who might assist in hospital work and study clinics. Mr. P. M. Mackay moved that the matter be referred to the Hospital. Committee. Dr. Valintine tlnspector-General of Hospitals), who was present, expressed, the opinion that it the Board afforded the facilities sought, it would be doing a great deal for the medical students, a great deal in the interests of tbe general public.- and it would also be asslatiug in the obtaining of tbe voluminous notes upon various diseases which were at present not obtainable. He pointed out that owing to its climatic conditions, Auckland was especially suitable for clinical research and study, a drawback in connection with I medical study at Dunedin being the small opportunities for clinical study. The morion was agreed to without fur-. ther discussion.
