LENTEN ADDRESS.
The series of Lenten addresses to men was continued yesterday by Mr. A. P. Cowie, who spoke in the luncheon hour at tbe wharf. In the course of his address Mr. Cowie said that tbe church Catholic was the-church universal in its widest sense. It was more than Episcopal, more than Papal authority, more than Nonconformist Freedom. It stood by the poor in distress, defended the right of the fatherless, and conquered men's hearts by love. Our Lord came on earth to help us in the form of man not in the form of an angel. A member of the most exclusive nation in the world, he created a religion, which had uplifted woman, put down slavery, and bad set a moral standard to all the world.
