HEAVY FIGHTING IN FRANCE.
BRITISH LOSE GROUND AND REGAIN IT. COUNTER-ATTACKS AT HEUVE CHAPELLE BEATEN OFF. WELLINGTON, this day. The High Commissioner reports under date of London, March 16, 4,30 p.m.: Paris reports state that the Belgian army is making continued progress along the bend of the Yser and south of Dixmude. The British troops slightly fell back at St. Eloi, south of Yprcs, yesterday evening under a very violent attack. Counter-attacking, they retook a portion of the ground ceded. Fighting continues.
At Neuve Chapelle the position is unchanged. The enemy yesterday very violently counter-attacked for the third time to retake tbe trenches captured. Between Four de Paris and Bolante the Germans were also repulsed.
