WAITEMATA'S PAT HOME.*' ' ; COLLECTING CLUB RECORDS. j A most enjoyable ''At Some" was held at the Waltemata Boating Club's boathouse at St. George's Bay on the occasion of the races for the Commodore's trophies, pre l ' sented by Mr. A. M. Myers, commodore of the club. A most Interesting feature'of the social side of the ceremony 'was the presentation .... to the .club.;.-of a photographic shield- of old-time stalwarts to whose"" unquenchable courage during seasons of adversity the club owes Its Very strong; standing today. Captain Parker, who.was the second captain of Waltemata (holding the position from 1886-90), made the' presentation, and In doing so gave an intensely interesting sketch of the activities of the club In the early days when <wbaleboat racing was at the height of popularity. A photograph of the championship wnaleboat - crewv-was Included in the shield that was presented to' the club. Commodore A. 31. Myers, In acknowledging the gift, expressed the deep appreciation of the members of the very proud history Which these veterans had" built up for tbe Waltemata Club, and or' their sense of the valuable nature of the gift as a historical record, which would, inspire present and future members of tbe club to keep the blne-and-gold flag flying. The Commodore paid a cordial tribute to the ladies of the Waltemata Club and to the valuable help they had given in making It such a social success. Mr. W. G. Smith, vice-commodore, and foundation member of the club, was one of the honoured guests present. The final resulted: —Fearon (stroke). Haelfleld, E. White, J. Kelly (Cdueh), 1; A. There was a large gathering of friends and supporters present, and the rasing throughout was of a most interesting character, with every fluisb well contested. Mr. Cyril Slyfield, au ex-regatta oarsman, officiated as judge, and Mr . Walter G. Mason acted as starter, and got the crews away in a very efficient manner. Mr!
