COASTAL VILLAGES EVACUATED RT TURKS.
•..'•', '■•;■'■'•■ ATHENS, March 14. Six units hai-e reinforced the allied squadron bombarding the Smyrna forts. The Turks have evacuated the coastal villages, and have fled into the interior. The officers,of-HsMs; Triumph relate tbat the battleship was some tto-T under a tornado of shells. The Triumph was 17 times in action, fired 2,000 rounds, and was hit 14-times. Her funnel was riddled. One shell penetrated a turret, where there were 15 men, but only one of them was killed. When landing parties blew up the forts huge pieces of wreckage were" hurled nearly across.-the Straits. The "Giorriale d'ftalia" says that 20 Turkish officers and 300 men were killed in the first day's bombardment of the Dardanelles. One thousand wero killed on the second day, the paper adds, including yon Kobe, the German commander in the Dardanelles.
