Mr A. MacDonaW. of the Government Railway Department, Wellington, arrived in Auckland yesterday, and is staying at "Cargen." It is understood (saye the "Otogo Daily Times") that Mr. E. W. Burton, S.M., of Dunedin, is to be transferred to the Bay of lelande circuit. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commieeioner, has gone to Napier to act ac arbitrator in the settlement of terms and conditions of employment between the crews and owners of fishing boats. West Harbour (Otago) Borough Council presented Mr. Clark, late member for Chalmers, with a silver cigarette case, and Mrs. Clark with a handsome gold and diamond necklace.—Press Association. The Rev. F. H. Drew, missionary in the Solomon Islands, died there recently ,on his way to the Maravovo Hcupital. Word of Mr. Drew's death was received by the general secretary of the Melaneeian mksion in Auckland yesterday. Mr. F. W. Nicholson, -who for the past five months has been acting-manager for t-lio National Mutual Life Association.----hai-> now been appointed a general manager for Xc»" Zealand.
