WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —A report appears in your issue of yesterday, entitifcd "County Council Methods," which 1 consider an unfair reflection upon the conduct of business by the Waitemata County Council. 1 must take exception to the facts as set out in your report. When your reporter arrived, the Council was holding a duly convened Finance Committee meeting, as usual, the monthly meeting of the Council always being held at its conclusion. No public business was done in- committee at the following meeting, nor did the Council go into committee on-any one question during the day. The matters dealt with at the Finance Committee meeting, to which the Press was not admitted, were purely those of accounts. The general meeting started at about 12.20 p.m., and the tenders and Engineer's reports were dealt with prior to the adjournment, at 1 p.m., the Press being invited to enter at the opening of the meeting, but no reporter was present. Those statements regarding an uproar are quite contrary to fact, and the meeting passed off in perfect harmony, and with no untoward incident or heated discussion. I trust, Sir, that you will make these facts public, as your report, in my opinion, was one likely to bring the Council into discredit with their ratepayers. —I am, etc., F. DYE, Chairman. j
