FURIOUS FIGHT FOR BEAU SEJOUR REDOUBT.

HEROISM OF THE FRENCH DEFENDERS. POSITION I.OST AND RECAPTURED. PARIS, ilareh 12. The defence of the Beau Sejour redoubt was a brilliant exploit French colonials held the redoubt, and the Germans made six massed attacks The French fire decimated a whole battalion. Another furious' attack followed at dawn. Lieutenant Reynal leaped on to the breastwork to lead a charge again,t the enemy. He fell, and Lieutenant Gumtu replaced him He fell also, riddled with bullets. The survivors retreated. Private Simon dragging Lieutenant Gazeaux's body into the , redoubt amid a hail of bullets Private Jour killed seven Germans before he was sabred. He managed to crawl into the redoubt. Captain Poirier wa., heading another ehar-o against the enemy, when he was struck by a bomb splinter. Though wounded he seized a rifle and killed several Germans with the bayonet before he was killed. Lieutenant Lelong. the last survivor in the redoubt called out- 'Til show you how a French soldier dies, , ' and dashed into the Germans and killed several. He fell pierced with bayonets. Reinforcements recovered the redoubt on February 27.
