IMPORTANT RESULTS OF BRITISH ADVANCE.
ENEMY'S ATTEMPTS TO RECOVER LOST GROUND FAIL HARD FIGHTING AND STEADY PROGRESS. i (Received 10.20 a.m.) LOXDOX, March 12. Sir John French's bi-weekly report states that the success at Neuvo Chapelle has materially altered the situation on the Armentieres-La Bassco Koad. The losses in proportion to the results obtained were not great. We have established ourselves 1,200 yards behind the enemy's advanced trenches. The enemy's repeated attempts on Thursday to recover lost ground were repulsed with heavy loss, and we made steady progress. Hard fighting continues, The fourth Army Corps and an Indian corps repelled several counter-attacks on the night of the 11th and early on the morning- of the 12th with heavy loss to the enemy. The British Third Corps captured the village of Lepinette with slight loss. A Paris communique states that two divisions of Belgians advanced 500 metres in the direction of Schoorbakkc, south-east of Xieuport.
