Browne was known to most people as "Rolf Boldrewood," and was Born in London 89 years ago. He was a pioneer, paetoralist in Victoria and New f-S&uth Wales, and from 1870 to. 1895 was Sbliee Magistrate and Goldfields Warden ifl New South Wales. Jn 1888 he made s£, popular hit with "Robbery Under tans," and since then he has written, itianr works on Australian life. None of Ira later works, however, came ■up to Iris first success, which was the most popular book ii) Australasia. It also had a ifcjiue far beyond the colonies. This exciting story of the wild bushranging days, wliich still remains the best book of its kind, has been dramatised several time?.
