THE WEEKLY HALF-HOLIDAY.
(To the Editor.) fir,—Can you enlighten mc why, seeing we are supposed to have a lawful halfholiday, some shops close on. any day of the week? For instance, Tuesday bein" , licensing election day, some shops took the opportunity of •closing instead of Saturday. I am Jed to believe this is quite lawful. Bo you not consider there is some flaw in the Act to allow such, muddling and twisting? Seeing that the hfilf-holiday question is β-till very active, -would it not be better to have "the Act emended to make it Saturday straight out, and to avoid the public getting confused, or, in the event of Wednesday being carried, to make it definite for"that day? 1 certainly think Saturday has come to stay, .=o why not make it Saturday and give the public a chance to get used to one day?—l am, etc., DEFINITE.
