(To the Editor.) * •Sγ,— Kindly permit mc to have a word er-two to say_ on the above subject. In the first place. I wish to endorse the lentiments of "'Natator," who points out that although "some Southerners entered a protest against Wetson, they still continue to swim against him," and, may . J add, they did so without endangering their amateur status. "The Duke," as Uatator' says, "refuses to meet the Aacklander because of the said protest!" •Wesson's protest is being used as a pretest to evade a meeting with our local New Zealand champion. There is no xeason why the Duke should not meet , Welson from the "amateur" point of fjew—l am, etc., TRUDGEOX.
