LABOUR POINT OF VIEW.
FORMING PEACE COMMITTEE TO HELP SUFFERERS. (Received 0 a.m.) LONDON. August 5. A joint board of the Labour party has summoned a conference for Wednesday to consider the question of forming a National Labour Peace Emergency Committee, the object of which will be to advocate peace, to assist those suffering in the event of a shortage of food, and raise funds. A group of the Liberal members held a meeting in the House of Commons after lieiLring Sir Edward Grey's statement, and passed a resolution to the effect t.hat insufficient reason existed for England's intervention, and strongly urging that negotiations bo continued with Germany with a view of Britain maintaining her neutrality. Mi- Will Crooks, the well-known Labour M.P.. at a- meeting at Woolwich, urged his hearers at nil costs to support the Government, and "see the Old Country through." The "Daily Citizen says that if the diplomatists nf Europe are determined to tret drunk on blood, it is all the more reason why Labour should keep a cool head.
