WAITEMATA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

The activities of the Waitemata Chamber of Commerce during Ihe past year were touched upon by the president, Mr. it. 11. Dnder. in presenting Hie fourth annual report last night, lie stated that the Chamber had been Instrumental in bringing about a number of Improvements of a more or less useful nature. There had been an Improvement iv the wharf neconiniod.itlon ai Devonport. the ferry service had been greatly imrrrowd iv order to meet the requirements of the .Shore citizens, post office facilities had been extended, and a promise had been made for a better telephone service l>y the Inauguration of the automatic system.

The speaker also referred to the Greater North Shore scheme, which he considered an admirable one.

The report of the treasurer showed a credit balance of £4.* l 1.1/4 for the year ending June .-Ml.

In moving tbe adoption of the report. Mr. J. Henderson referred lo the utility of the Chamber of Commerce. He i-ousldored that lie Shore would have been more benefited had the Borough Council worked together with the Chamber. He referrod to the North Auckland Municipal Association, which he hoped would bring before the people many matters of general Interest. In this regard he stated that many Important matters might soon bo brought np. Including tramway extension and water supply. He also favoured the appointment of one engineer fur the whole of the districts.

The election of officers resulted as follows: President. Mr. It. Dmler: vice president, llr. W. Stone: secretary. Mr. A. 11. (lentil: treasurer. Mr. .1. Lowe; auditor. Mr. .1. f*. Webster: council. M<»ssrs. Valle. ■Henderson. Klni. Heidi. I.loyd. and George.

The Chamber later discussed a resolution tn amend the rules so as to enlarge the scope of members-hip. The matter was r" ferred to the conn.-il to report at a later date.
