The municipal abattoirs question, over which there has been so much contention, came nearer finality last night, when a recommendation from the I>cgal aud FinaJice Committee came before the Hamilton Borongh Conne.ll, in the direction or purchasing 02 acres of Tiudle's land, erecting abattoirs thereon, selling to the butchers a sufficient area to enable them to erect boiling down works, aud lease to them such area as may be required for paddocking purposes. In connection with this matter the following resolutions, passed by the Bntchcis' Association, were submitted to the Council by the secretary of the Asso-

ciation : — (1) That the Hamilton Bor*mjrh Council be asked to purchase the property known as Tindle's, comprising 62 acres; (2) that the Council agrees to reserve and occupy ten acres of the property for the purpose of abattoirs: and IS) that the Council agree to sell to the Hamilton Bntclicrs' Association two acres for the purpose of the erection of boiling down works„ and that the b?l a nee of the laud, comprising 50 acres, be leased to the Hamilton Master Botchers' Association for a term of ten years, with the right of renewal for a fnrther term. TI. -Ma-nnins) said the land would cost £2.400, and the buildings about £3,0G0. though the house at present on the site would mean a saving of about £700. h was senerallv considered that the Council should not tie up the land by louse, and the (Legal ami Finance Committee was authorised to draw up an agreement with the linti-hcrs. with a special iDsbmetion to guard the Council's interests.
