THE NORTHCOTE CUP.
SYDNEY, this day. In the Northcote Cup contest, Rawhiti won the second race to windward, and retains -the trophy. The weather was not very favourable for the race, calms following strong gusts of choppy wind and rain. The race was exciting throughout. The Victorians showed fine seamanship, and at times both Killara and Rip apparently held winning chances. However, Rawhiti 11., finely handled, proved her superiority under trying conditions and won by 2m 255, Rip beating Killara by 6m 18s. In the final stages Killara was handicapped by her mainsail splitting.
