GRAY MAKES A RECORD. (Received 11.16 a.m.) LONDON, February 8. Newman won his match against Gray, le final score being:— Newman (rec. 4,000) .. 18,000 Gr ay 15.1G4 Newman's majority 2,53G On Friday Gray made ;i break of 634, °i which 543 came off the red. This constitutes a record for Ivory balls. He a 'so nude breaks of 247. 202, and 323, °' which 321 came off the red. Newman made breaks of SOS, 255, and 328 (Unfinished). .The "Observer" says that if Gray were s«n on an off day he might have given t™ impression that the ivories were too "™ c » for him. He often played tuo Italy on the object ball, but at other nmes he proved that lie will become as Proficient with the ivories as with the composition. He showed on Friday that ~ knows far more of the peculiarities « wories than he did a week before.
