Mr. T. S. Lambert, JJP.. the wellknown Wellington architect, is here on a visit on business, pleasure, and doing the Exhibition.

Mr. James Mackenzie, Stir.veyer-Gen-cral of the Dominion, arrived by yesterday's express on Departmental business, and will probably be in the Auckland district for about ten days. Tlie many friends of Air. IH. Schofield, Jate chairman of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board and member of the Grey Lynn Borough Council, will regret to learn of liie> continued serious illness, which is causing his family some anxiety. He was brought to town on Friday last from Rotoraa, where he has been residing for the past four months, ajid is now at his home in Crammer Road, Grey "Lynn. Mr. E. W. Burton, who ias been associated with the Epsom Bowling Club since its formation and was its first pre^ sident, was accorded a warm farewell >by. his brother members on Saturday afterdooti. The president, Mr. W. B. Williams?, and other members expressed rejrret at hia departure from Auckland, while extending their congratulations upon his appointment to the .Central Otago magistracy. The occasion was also taken to present Mr. and Mrs. Burton with a solid silver tea service as a token of the hig-li esteem in which the. club members hold them, and of the goodfeliowship that has always existed between -Mr. Burton and his brother trnndlprs of Epsom. The bowlers of Auckland -generally will be sorry to lose a popular brother of the wood, while rejoicing at the -honour conferred on him.
