THE EXHIBITION.

« ■ A PROFITABLE WEEK-END. FIREWORKS DISPLAY TO-NIGHT. The number of juveniles who took advantage of "CMldrerr's Day" at the Exhibition yesterday was just upon a thousand. There were also 5,082 adults. Everything has been pointing to a good week-end crowd, the grounds and buildings having been lively throughout the day. This afternoon the finals of the professional sports meeting were entered upon. Tbe Royal Artillery Band programme will be interrupted this evening by the iireworks display, which is Used to" commence at 9 o'clock. The first half of the band concert will conclude just before tbe fireworks begin, and there will he a halfhour interval in the music, during the time occupied by the pyrotechnics. The band programme will then be resumed. The fireworks display this evening will consist very largely of aerial discharges, and there will in consequence be a very large number of rocket sticks, exploded shells and other debris. All the rockets and shells will be directed to fall ill the Dornaiu Cricket Ground, and the public are therefore warned that the Cricket Ground is for the time being a "dangerous area,'' and persons will remain there at their own risk. THE TOUR OF THE BAND. As reported elsewhere, the Exhibition authorities have decided that the Royal Artillery Band is to Jeave Auckland shortly on a tour of several towns in the southern part of New Zealand. Tt is reeogfused by them that, partly owing to the limited time- during which the band may remain in New Zealand, there are a large number of people who will not be able to reach the Exhibition in time, to hear the band, and others who will not be able to come to Auckland at all. This band is the first of its kind ever to visit Australasia, amd in all probability it will be many years before such a body is again allowed to leave England for so long or for suuh a long journey. The tour will be managed by Mr. Scott Colville, who is now engaged in making the necessary arrangements. The. itinerary is not yet definitely fixed, but it will include the following towns: —Rotorua, Palmerston North. Napier, Wellington. Christehurch. Timaru. Dunedin. Invercargill. Wanganui. and New Plymouth, and perhaps Hamilton. The band will leave for Rotorua on January 31. and is expected to return to Auckland on February 20. It will thus have ten or twelve days more in Auckland before it has to leave for Wellington to catch the Rnape.hu, which I is due to sail for London on March 5. I AGRICTJLTL T RAL COURT. I A visit to tbe court of the Agricultural Department was made by the j Director of Agriculture (Mr. Clifton) : prior to his departure by the Niagara to-day for Vancouver, to represent the | Government at tbe Panama Exposition, j Mr. E. Clifton expressed pleasure with j the display which officers of the depart- j ment bad made. The latter saw their ; cliief off by the Vancouver steamer. ! FIREWORKS DISPLAY. j Extensive preparations have been i made for (he fireworks display to be | given to-night, and they are such as to i ensure a good view from all parts of the grounds. The structures have been elevated considerably as compared with the last occasion, and the result should be more spectacular. MILITARY TATTOO. Arrangements for the military tattoo on Saturday next are well forward. Commander P. J. Stopford, of the thirdclass cruiser HJVI.S. Pyramus, has undertaken to provide a team of bluejackets for a cutlass display lasting twenty minutes. Territorial evolutions on a big scale and the playing of eleven bands will l)e features of the occasion. WONDERLAND PARK. Wonderland Park continues an evergreen source of attraction for Exhibition patrons. Indeed it is at times necessary to wait quite a while in queue formation before getting on to the water chute, | the figure-eight railway, the toboggan, and other amusement devices. Life is exceedingly gay in this section of the Exhibition.
