STRIKE QUARTERS RAIEED. CAPE TOWN. January 16A number of mechanics on the Premier Diamond Mine, a vast property near Pretoria, struck work yesterday. The ringleader* were immediately arrested. The strikers thereupon askea to be allowed to resume, but this request was refused. The Trades Federation adjourned yesterday after a prolonged deliberation. The meeting declined to make any announcement, bur it is believed that the idea of a general .-trike Id the Cape Province has been abandoned in view of to-d-ay's development^. The police last night raided the strik* headquarters at Pretoria and arrested 20 of the leaders, including the entire committee. Reuters correspondents throughout the Transvaal.
