NEW PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS.
ANNOUNCEMENT IN DAY OR TWO. <Pj Tel?Erapn.— Parliamentary Reporters WELLINGTON, Thursday. In answer to a question by the Leader of the Opposition this afternoon as to the acceptance of a tender for the new Parliamentary Buildings, the Minister of Public Works replied that the tenders had been before the Tenders Board, and that one of them was very satisfactory, but until the contract was signed particulars could not be given. . The only delay just now. explained Mr. • Fraser, was in re?pect of the stone to be chosen for the front of the building. I In calling for tenders four varieties of j granite and marble were mentioned, ana it had been considered advisable to submit the different stone? to the opinion of experts. Their report was expected j in a day or two. and the successful i tender would then be announced. The Minister added that the stone would be Xew Zealand stone —granite or marble, i Among the stones specified were Tongan Bay granite, Mt. Somers stone, and I Sandy Bay marble.
