Mr. J. H. Upton left for Wellington by last night's express. The Rev. Fathers V. Peters., of Maitland, N.S.W.. and W. Ormond, of Auckland, have left for a. trip for the West Coast of the South Island. Mr. iR. W. Dyer, S.M., with 'Mrs. and Miss Dyer, who have been staying at Waibeke, have now taken up their quarters at the Star Hotel. _ Mr. R P. Greviße, of the Lands and Survey Department, has been appointed Inspector of Surveys. Auckland district, pvith headquarters at Hamilton. His brother officers presented Mr. Greville with a valuable -tra-velling hag. Mr. Bartholomew Croondn. who has res.-_._med the headma-tership of the Napier Street School, after holding that position for 20 yeaTS. was referred' to in eulogistic frras by the chairman. Mr. J. Trpvethiek and various members of the City School- Committee at the meeting held last evening. Mr. A. E. Trayes, h________r of Mount RoslriH school, has been appointed to fill the vacancy, being chosen from fourteen applicants. He has had 2." yesrs' experience at teaching, and Mr. Crc-_-in'e total service Ls .36 ye___.
