_'_- A DAY OFF. X*: ■ The collectors for the Y.W.CA. fund took a holiday this morning, as Saturday is a busy time with most people. In the , afternoon the teams and committees held a picnic at Takapuna, so they should be in good condition to resume active -opera- ! tions again on 'Monday. The management of the Y.W.CA, being anxious that it should be thoroughly understood the institution is a provincial one, and not merely for dwellers in the city and suburbs, have forwarded' to all the schools in the Auckland district circulars explaining that the Y.W.CA. is open to all girls visiting the city. It will be noticed in the appended list of contributions credit is given to the gentleman for the £4 10/3 he collected without being duly authorised so to do. The following ad_itional donations are acknowledged: — Trustees Pitt Street Methodist Church, £100; "Best Wishes," •£100; Macky, Logan, Caldwell. Ltd., £100; Mr. Alfred Porter, £25; Green and Colebrook, £25: Mrs. Stewart, sen.. £20; Messenger Bros.. £10 10/; Mr. and Mrs. Henderson, £10 10/; Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Clay, £10 10/. Sums of £10 each were contributed by "Football Brand," Waitemata. Sawmills, Edward Ru-sell, N-Z. Brick Co., Mr. and .Mrs. J. Ambury. Messrs. iWarnoek Bros, contributed' £5 5/, as did also Wallnutt Bros., G. J. Hark*T, W. Garratt- <W. A. Bedfl-C, and Ru-sell and Sooner-. Sums of £5 were contributed by H. Munro Wilson, E. and F. Piano Co.. Mrs. T. Renshaw, F. Renshaw. A. M. Skeates, Mrs. T. B. Arthur, Mrs. Walters. 'Mrs. Butterworth, Mr. and Mrs- Coleman, Charles -Williamson, W. J. -Munro. Allen Bell, James sStewart, T. The ladies who collected at the Kailway workshops Yesterday wish especiaily to thank the men for the reception, which was so kindly, -whether they subscribed or not. The men on the wharves, and those in the offices and warehouses also received the ladies in most generous fashion. The Premier hae forwarded the following letter to Miss Stillwell, secretary of the Y.W.CA.. Auckland: —"In response to the request in your circular. I have pleasure in contributing £1 1/ towards the fund whicb is being raised for the •eretrtion of a new building for the Auckland branch of the Y.W.CA. With all ■good wishes- for -the of the efforts now- being made T>y your committee, believe 7,me. yours truly? W. F. Massey." In forwarding a cheque for £100, the trustees of Pitt Street Mefihodist I Church enclosed the following letter:— J "At a meeting of tbe trustees of Pitt j Street Methodist Church, held last night, they considered the good, wholesome, work your Association is I doing for the girls and young women of this city. They ~ fu-ty -realise that the Y.W.CA. is "doing a work which the individual churches could not very well undertake, therefore iv a very hearty and practical manner, a resolution was carried unanimously •that a cheque of £100 be sent towards your noble, worthy campaign. The members of the meeting earnestly pray you may fully achieve your object of raising £15,000. Wishing your 'Institute and campaign good success." (Signed) William Ready (minister).
