■■ ■ ■ SECOJTD DAY'S RACING. The Avondale Jockey Club was again favoured with fine weather to-day for the i second day's racing of the spring meeting. There is a large attendance of the public. Dash losing, a lot of ground, but Rouge Dragoon and Watchchaln soon supplanted, the former failing at the second fence, Crispineer then going on in the lead, followed by First Wairiki. the order of the others, being Watchchaln, Buffy, Pip, 31errima5, and Poictlers, with Vestal last. Racing past the stand Watchchaln ran np to Crispineer, the pair being just in front of First Wairiki and Merrimax, after which came Buffy and Pip, while Vestal had made up a lot of and was close'to the field. Going along the back Watchchaln was out by himself, and showed the way across the top three lengths clear of Vestal, with Merrima_, Ruffy, First Wairiki, and Pip racing in that order. Watchchaln still had charge when they jumped the last fence, and stalling off, chaUenaes by Merrima-, Vestal, and Ruffy, won by two lengths, with a similar distance separating' second and third. Buffy was fourth, with Pip, First Wairiki <md Crispineer following, _>oiotiers walking in with the crowd. Time, 3.20 2-5. Merrlma_ was favonrlteC. At the distance Delenda had shaken off Shepherd's Bash, and a victory looked like coming her way, but a littie further on Castalia ■ put in her claim, and. finishing with great 1 dash, got the verdict by two lengths. Shepherd's Bush was a length and three(juarters away, third. Crescendo, which finished fast, was fourth, and then came Kitty Bellairs, Mason Bee. Bacing along the back Merry Boe was striding along in great style, Marconi being her nearest attendant, while Soultikoff and Rosea were together half a dozen lengths away, and in this order they crosed the top. Merry Roe turned for home with ber advantage unaltered, and never let the field near her. winning as she liked by three and a-half lengths from Marconi, with Sonltlkoff two and a-half lengths further back, third. Rosea was fourth, and Brookfield last. Time. 1.418. Merry Roe was favourite. PLTJMPTON HANDICAP of 300sovs. Ond mile one furlong. Prince Merriwee , 1 Royal Anns . ' .'.; 2 Tiresome a Won _by two and a-iialf lengths. Time, 1.35 4-0. All started. There was one breakaway, and they were let go iv perfect line. Bluestone. Decorate, and Prince Merriwee racing iv line past the stand, followed by Tragedy .King, Royal Arms, Laverna, and Tiresome, and in that order they left tbe straight. Entering back stretch, Laverna. Bluestone, and Decorate were in line, but passing the aye-furlong post Laverna was the leader, while I'rince Merriwee got a lucky run through on the rails, and was in second positiom, -with B-uestcme ueit, a_sd; the others bunched. Crossing the top Prince Merriwee got another lucky run on the rails, and went to the front, closely attended by Bluestone Prince Merriwee won easily by two and ahalf lengths.
