BREAKING OF THE DROUGHT
IN THE " GAKDEIf STATE." NEW YORK, August 17. The greatest drought in the history oi Kansas broke to-day. Enormous damage has been caused to flic crops by the high temperatures, which in some of'the cities of the State reached lOOrlog F.ilir. daily for several weeks. Tlie mines have been compelled to close because of the water famine. X Showers are now general. Prayers for ttin have been offered in the churches for VB» :ie time.
