Company— "Quarterly dividend of 1/9 per share has been declared., payable on September 4th, payable to shareholders registered on August 14th. Company met on Monday tc consider tenders for driving 350 ft of tlie new (X.o. 7) level from the bottom of the Saxon aha.it to the junction of Nos. 1 and 2 Cardigan reefs. The tender of VT. Kendall and party was accepted, and work was started yesterday. GOLDEN CROSS. Work was resumed in the Golden Cros3 mine and battery at Waitekauri on Monday last. Stoping has been started on No. 4 winze block, from which sufficient ore is being won at present to keep the battery going sixteen hours per day Next wetk extra men will be put on to keep the battery working the full 24 hours. UNION HAURAKL At an extraordinary meeting of shareholders in the Union Hauraki°GjM. Company held in Mr. H. J. LeYs" office, (Hobson's Buildings, at -which Mr. E. W. Bremner's Freehold.—A rise bas been started on Tiernan's reef at the low level, and right over where the first gold was met with In the lerel. There are two reefs showing in this rise, which is now up 4ft The re.efs are about 3ft apart. The second reef was discovered shortly after starting the rise ou the hungiugwall ol the main reef. It is from 3ln to Ghi wide, and when breaking down gold was seen in some of the quartz. Gold is also still showing Iα the face of the rise, which the manager considers very encouraging. There has been only a small portion r>f (he main reef broken down. This shows 12iu wide of gond looking quartz, but no gold was seen In it. At No. 1 level an underhand stope is beins takeD out.

Kilverstream. —The Queen drive was timbered nlong the leadinz stope for 55ft. There were in hand lOcwt of flrst-class and Sewt of second-class ore. Four general samples of the reef wpjp taken. Xo. 1, uorth face of the Qneen. 4ft fiin wide, value £1 13/" per ton: Xo. 2. r.ft wide, 28ft south, £10 11/8; Xo. 3, Oft wide. Or.ft south, £4 7/9; Xo. 4, 7ft v.ide, il'Jft south, £6 18/8; No. 5, general quartz from tip. £1 13/3.

Mountain King.—Operations in the mine during the week cons-isted of stoping south of main rise, width of reef averaging Bft of payable dirt. A winze was started north of t.h& intGrmecli«it& level on n nice body of quartz, showing fine colours of gold. This work will he continued to ascertain the value of this block below the intermediate level. Two men were engaged filling up the stope below the No. 2 level north, and stoping will he put t-nto operation this week. The reef is a nice body of ore. Grace's reef, at the lowest .level Is very unsettled. A contract was let for driving 100 ft south on Grace's reef.
