A DISTRESSING CASE.
(To the Editor.', Sir, —Can I crave a small space in your valuable columns to draw attention to a most distressing and deserving i.-ase of a bandsman who has always been willing to give his assistance to any charity whenever called upon, and who is now in very great need of some financial assistance? 1 refer to the case of Mr. H. Valentine, by occupation a drainer, who has been" in the District Hospital for some three months, suffering with jaundice and blood-poisoning. and although now removed to his honiu will, through rheumatism, etc.. be unable to follow any occupation or support his wife and two children for a very considerable period. Any contributions will be gladly received by the undersigned, or can be left at the office of this paper, and. in addition, the Third Regiment Band have obtained the kind permission of the City Council to hold a benefit performance in the Albert Park Sunday afternoon next at 3 o'clock.—l am, etc., P.
