ALLEGED ABDUCTION.

AN UNHAPPY GIRL.

BUNS AWAY FROM HOME. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DI'NEDIN, Monday. At the Police Court to-day Albert p er cy Olding. who gave his age as 23 years, was charged with taking an unmarried c' I a .- re * y ears and six months from the control of her parents. Evidence was given by the girl's mother (Mrs. Perry) that she knew accused in ■ffellingt-on, where she kept refreshment rooms. About the end of April she and her husband aßic to Dunedin for a holiday, leaving their daughter in a situatjvfl. bllt before they returned the girl hid left the place, and it was discovered that she hail been living with accused. \bout the end of May the parents and daughter l>"it \\ elhn.irtnn and came to live in Cunedin. On July l(i the daughter left for work, but about mid-day her mother received a telegram from Oamaru savins that >he did not intend to return. Accused was arrested in Christchurch that night On one occasion the mother had trouble with tbe .girl over accused, snd gave her a thrashing. The girl went iwav, but returned next day.

The father of the girl also gave evidence to tbo effect that trouble had arisen over accused keeping company •(rith her. He *aid accused told him once that hn was married to the girl, imt subsequently admitted he was not married.

The dauijMer gavo evidence with reference to meeting accused on July 15. She said she had written to him and asked him to take her to C'hristehurch. She iras not happr at home, as her father Tas alwavi at her about accused.

Oldiug was committed for trial, bail being allowed in his own recognisance o£ £100 and two sureties of .CSO each.
