At the annual meeting of the Waiii branch of the Reform League, last evening, a resolution was carried: ""That this branch urge upon Government the immediate importance of pushing on the East Co.".st railway from the Waihi end." The question of nominating a candidate for the next general election was discussed at length. It was resolved to appoint three delegates to confer with delegates representing other branches in the 6hinemnri electorate in the matter. The Eev. deary, Mr. Devereanx and Mr. Walmsley were elected delegates. The names of probable candidates mentioned were, Colonel Porr-tt (Paeroa), H. M. Corbett (county cnairm-an). and Pastor Garke (Piiriri;. Jt was resolved t-o wire to the Premier, and a-«k that a Minister should give a politico] address in Waifci. iir. Michel, in reply to a letter, wired: "■Combined forces too much. Grey was the horns' of old Liberalism, and .-tormcentre of red feds., but Government now has a solid party of nearly three thou- • Band. and Thursday"* result will be reversed next election.*' The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. 1). O. Satmders: vice-presidents (2), Messrs. V. H. Potter and -I. Xcwdick: committee (10), Messrs. Coin*".-. Smeaton, Devereaux. McCarthy. . P>raadfoot, Corbett, Truscott. Tncker. Hiding?, and Rev.
