A SOLICITOR'S NEGLIGENCE.
CLIENT'S CLAXEE FOR DAMAGES. (Received 10.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. John Norton is suing David Herald solicitor, for £3,000 damages for alleged neghger.ee in the conduct'of his defence in the action brought by Archbishop Clarke against Norton for alleged libel in connection with the Canon Nash ease. Plaintiff's counsel stated that Norton was not pressing for damages, but merely wanted to vindicate his character. Norton complained that Herald had not informed him that Canon Nash refused to give certain evidence which the defence relied on. If Norton had known this he would have effected a settlement earlier than he did. The case was adjourned.
