FOREIGN GOODS IN NEW ZEALAND.

An exhibition was opened thio week at the offices of the London Chamber of Commerce uf examples of foreign hardware, hollow-ware, and tool-; which find favour in the New Zealand market. The exhibits were sent to this country by His .Majesty's Trades Commissioner in New Zealand, acting upon a recent instruction by the Board of Trade to Commissioners in the self-governing Dominions to colleft samples of all kinds of foreign hardware, hollow-ware and tools which have been successful in competition with similar gnods ot British origin. There has already b~en a display of South African s.nmple.s in Birmingham. Sheffield, and London, and the present collection has bePii shov.-n in two sections in the sa.me provincial centres. The goods are principally of American and Gorman origin, -and include axes, lock-, carters, tacks, hay and other fork.-. lawn mowers, farriers and carpenter>' tools, stocks and dies, in addition t'i ena.mei-Tvare. lamps, and other articles of domes-tie furniture. In forwarding them, the Trade Commissioner staled that SJie fact that these linos were snM I>y New Zealand firms meant.
