PERSONAL.
I Mr. A. Don, missionary to the Chinese in New Zealand under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church, has been transferred from Dunedin to Palmerston North. Mr. R. C. O'Connor, official organiser, and Mr. K. C. Brown, resident representative for Auckland, of the New Zealand Government National Provident Fund, arrived in Auckland yesterday. Dr J. Neil Keith, of Noi-thcote, leaves by the Main Trunk express to-night to accompany Mrs Keith as far a 6 Weldington, who leaves by the Rotorua on May 2nd on a visit to Scotland. Mr. A. O'Keefe, of the staff of the Dunedin .School of Art, has received intimation that his picture ''His Home Mail" has been accepted by the Royal Cambrian Academy. Mr. James McKenzic, SurveyorGeneral, who returns from the King Country to-day, is to visit tho North of Auckland, and then Rotorua and Bay of Plenty. His mission is in connection with the opening up of Crown lands. The Hon. IT. D- Bell. Minister of , Internal Affairs, is spending to-day in j attending to a quantity of departmental business. To-night he will be present at the dinner being tendered by the Auckland Club to the officers of the New j Zealand. j Forty-five years' consecutive service as secretary of the Taita .School Com- ; mittee was the record of Mr. C. Clejland, who declined to again accept that !position at the annual meeting of householders- His record nearly approaches that of Mr. John Bollard, M.P., who has again been elected chairman of the Avondale Committee. The Prime Minister, the Hon. W. F. Massey, was occupied the whole of this morning in receiving private deputations. This afternoon Mr. Massey attended the opening ceremony in connection with the new V.M.C.A. building in Wellesley Street, and this evening he will be present at the dinner being given by the members of the Auckland Club in honour of the officers of H.M.s. New ! Zealand.
