The run up the harbour with the escorting fleet of pleasure craft and excursion steamers, wail fraught with unique sensations. RaTely does the aquatic spirit of Aucklanders manifest itself with Buch gay abandon, and this ; afternoon's spectacle will remain vividly imprinted as one of the most picturesque scenes witnessed on the harbour. Many scores of motor launches and whitewinged yachts, with fluttering flags and buzzing engines, fell into the line of procession as the grim, grey visitor came up past Cheltenham Beach, and followed right up to the: New Zealand's -anchorage off Queen Street .wharf. 'Besides these were half a dozen or more crowded excursion steamers, and cheens followed cheers in lively rounds. After the battleship bad come to rest, the whole harbour was a grand panorama of sails and masts. "A finer sight' even than American fleet time," was the general verdict.
