SPORTS PROTECTION LEAGUE
ANNUAL MEETING. There was a good attendance at the first annual meeting of the Sports' Protection League, held in the Chamber of Commerce on Friday evening. Mr John Howe was in the chair. letters of apology were read from the Mayor CMr C. J. Parr), C. K. S. McKinney," and Lindsay Cooke. The chairman, in his opening address, said; thnt under the present constitution the whole of the work was centralised in Wellington. He -was of the opinion that a great movement of tlrie kind could not be properly looked after by one officer. The Dominion should be formed into districts or divisions, and- the work of the Auckland district done in Auckland City, and then forwarded on to Wellington, "this suggestion was supported by Messrs E. B. L/usk and C. E. Major, smd endorsed by the meeting. The balance-sheet and report were adopted, and the following officers elected:— President, His Worship the Mayor (Mr C. J. Parr); vice-presidents (Hon. E. ■Mitehelson (racing), Lleut.-Cbl. Harare! (shooting), Mirrdoeb McLean (rowing). T. P. Gilfedder (athletics), E. Watts (Northern Union), B. Allen Bent and Sir Robert Loekliart (hunthig), X. E. Cooke (yachting), M. Foley (boxing), A. Cleave (motoring), v. Earl (angling), C B - Major (polo). W. Leatham (billiards), D. Cfallaher (Rugby Thrion), J. Eowe (trotting), R. B. Lusk (cricket), T. B. O'Connor (running), H. R. Mackenzie, E. Anderson, C. Broclcway, Roger, and J. R. Reid; committee, C. H. R. McKinney, J. Gillett, Lindsay Cooke, E. W. Alison, H. R. McKenale; treasurer, Mr M. I. (Sonic; awlltor, Mr-C. A. -Chnrton.
