FIGHT FOR FREE WOOL.
VIRTUALLY WON. ''PUTTING OFF" THE EVIL DAY (Received 11.15 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 17. It is increasingly evident that the free wool fight will be won. Several Senators express their intention of introducing amendments in the Senate, but it is believed that they will not press them sufficiently to cause a fissure in the party.
The opponents are now concentrating the fight on" the omission of definite dates when the abolition of tariffs becomes effective.
New York manufacturers and importers are urging Congress to fix the date a yearahead.
