LONDON, April 17. Lord Alfred Douglas' action for libel against Arthur Ransome and "The Times" Book Club in connection with Kansome's book on Oscar Wilde, alleging that Lord Douglas was responsible for Wilde's public disgrace and penniless abandonment, was heard to-day.

Lord Douglas testified that he paid three months' rent of a Naples villa for Wilde, gave him large monetary help at various periods, and paid his funeral expenses.
