a STORAGE BATTJERY SUCCESSFUL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association ) GISBOENE. Wednesdays The Gisborne Municipal tramways service -was opened to-day by the Mayor (Mr Pettis), who drove a car over tbe first section. General sa-tis&w-tion wes expressed v at the smoothness of the working aiid' easy acceleration, of the Edison storage battery ears. At a public function congratulations were offejred to Gisborne in leading the Dominion in this form of traction. The public are being treated to joy rides in the tramcars this afternoon.
