THE MONOPLANE.

SOME TRIAL FLIGHTS.

The Bleriot monoplane that Wizard Stone, the well-known American aviator, has brought to Auckland for exhibition ilvin", was brought out of its tent m the Domain Cricket Ground early this afternoon, for the purpose of testing the engines. Tidings of the prospective event had apparently spread abroad, for there was a numerous gathering of both sexes, and the doings of the aviatior. staff were watched with close interest. At the second test the machine rose to a height of about eight feet, and at. the third she went to an elevation of ten or twelve feet, covering about the same distance on each occasion. /Ihe monop-ane was then replaced i_i the tent, and Mr Stone informed a "Star" reporter that he was satisfied with the tests. Some tuning up .of the engine -would, he said, be necessary, as it was. pulling about COlbs. less than it should. Both he and his manager (Mr Schaefer) expressed complete confidence in. their ability to provide some good flights at the Domain on Saturday afternoon. It is four months since Mr Stone made hie last flight in Australia,, and he naturally wanted to get his ".touchy back. This afternoon's test gave him the necessary opportunity.
