HOUSING OF WORKERS.
A HAMILTON SCHEME.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, this day. The difficulty of getting house accommodation in - Hamilton at reasonable rente wa_ the subject of discussion by the Hamilton Borough Council last night, when the Mayor said it was almost impossible to get houses in town. There were dozens of families in the town unable to get house accommodation at a moderate rental, and the .Council should go into the question of erecting a number of workmen's cottages on\various borough endowments. He thought it possible to put up substantial and reasonably roomy houses for 12/ to 14/.a week. By a scheme of thk kind the endowments would be producing some return, and the Council would" be giving the people good houses to live in, which would be well separated. He had already given the matter some consideration, and hoped at next meeting to bring forward some tangible scheme.
