RESUMED. , (By Correspondent.) • ; EARANGAHAKE, this day. -;"r Ah' adjourned inquiry regarding the' deathsof Wm'..Hyde ahd'Thosl Mcßride, w-liich-pccufred .on..March 28 at! the' Talisman; mine .as the result "of. a; wire ' rope attached to. the skip in:;the. shaft -_•' breaking, and both'men bemg-precipitated a depth of 80ft down ; the"shaft, was-.re-sumed at Karangahake-to-day.- . -John Tait (engineer of the Talisman '. company) was examined at length. .He .ad__itted that he L was responsible for the condition of the whole' ofi.the jnachinery. in the-mine. It. was Ms duty to inspect" and report to the'mine manager. He had examined .the hauling rope'on the day of " the,"accident,' and was-satisfied-that it was safe. l_e .defects ;'since ; discovered in the rope were not visible just prior to the accident. - - ._.... -.
