Tlie monthly meeting of the Otorohauga Town Council was held on Monday. Messrs Elliott (chair). AY. A'icary, and J. Ormsby being present. A buildlug permit was granted, to Mr 'AVillis to erect an auction mart, ilr It. Ormsby was granted permission to make alterations to bis residence. The contract in connection with the sanitary service was completed. This service is to be started at once. Several applications for exemption of the above service were considered, and with two exceptions they were all declined, lt was resolved to make application to the Advances to Local Bodies Board for £203, being ten per «ent of the previous loan, to complete the metalling of the principal streets. She was riding a spirited hack, and whilst cantering along the road it turned into a settler's gate, and attempted to jump a wire fence, strikjtog the top wire, and the horse fell into the paddock. The impetus threw Miss Ashby clear of the animal, and she escaped being rolled on. The doctor found that one collarbone was broken, aud a cut on the forehead three stitches. The new police residence and courthouse are completed. Plans of new houses are being prepared to relieve the present dearth, as It is almost Impossible for a new arrival to get a vacant dwellinghouse, without having to wait for six months. A meeting was held In Miss Hunter's boardlnghouse on Friday night; for the purpose of (1) forming a minstrel aud dramatic club; (2) of forming an association football club. This was convened by Mr Pope, and there was a fair attendance. A committee for each club was appointed to collect names of prospective members..
