RATES UNDULY HIGH.

(Received 9.40 a.m.)

BRISBANE, this day.

The Empire Trade Commissioners have arrived and have commenced taking evidence.

Speaking at the civic reception, Sir Edgar Vincent, chairman, declared that the° present cable rates were unduly high, and calculated to hamper in an unwise manner free communication between the inhabitants of the Empire.
