TIMBER AND THE TARIFF.
DITTIES ON NEW ZEALAND WOODS. (Received 11.15 a.m.) HOBART, this day. The Timber Workers' Federal Conference adopted a number of recommendations for the alteration of the tariff, of which the general tendency ' a ask that increased duties ou sma sizes and dressed timber generally be made. On New Zealand white pine for butter boxes it is recommended that the duty remain at 1/6 per 100 ft, while the duties on other New Zealand pine should be increased to 2/6.
