WAIKATO ITEMS.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, tb/s day. At tbe annnal meeting of the Waikato Trotting Club the statement of accounts showed that, though £42 was lost over the recent meeting, owing to bad weather, the club was still financial, having a few pounds in hand. In the Magistrate's Court to-day Alexander McMillan was fined £2 and costs for riding Thornton Maid in a race at the recent trotting meeting, while the horse was badly chafed through her hopples being too tight. Vital statistics for the quarter ended March 31, 1913, and 1!)12,. are as follows:— Births, 130 (103), deaths, 45 (41); marriages, 38 (23). The annual meeting of the Golf Club was held last night. Tbe report showed a satisfactory increase in membership, aud a credit balance of £27, as against a deficit of £12 last year. A proposal was received from Mr Gillies iv regard to leasing his links at Terapa, but the figure asked was. considered too high, and it was decided if satisfactory arrangements are not made to continue playing on the old links. Mr Heywodd was elected president, and Dr. Douglas was elected a life member, in recognition of his services in the encouragement of ;_ r olf. At the annual meeting of the Waikato Hockey Association the report showed a slight credit balance. Sir A. Swarbrick was elected president. It was decided to endeavour to rent ISeddon Park from tbe Domain Board. The club will commence the season with a seven-a-side tournament. It was resolved to write, to the New Zealand Association and the Te Awamutu Club in regard to the latter affiliating with Cambridge, as it Is in the Waikato Association's boundary. The annual meeting of the Rugby Union was held last evening. The funds were stated to be in a healthy condition. Registration of the Morrlnsville Club was granted. Mr J. Warney was re-elected president.
