THE CITY MAYORALTY. So far it seems unlikely that Mr. C. J. Parr will have any opposition for the position of Mayor of Auckland. This morning it was announced that Mr. Hall Skelton, who last year contested the Mayoralty, was again to be a candidate. When seen by a " Star " representative, however, Mr. Hall Skelton' said that he had never had any intention of again coming forward as a candidate for the position .of Mayor. Yesterday he was waited upon by a deputation of business men, and was asked to accept nomination as a candidate for the City Council. He had agreed to accept nomination, and had promised to run for election as a Councillor on the same programme as submitted by __ to the electors last year. The report that lie was a candidate for the Mayoralty, however, was absolutely without foundation.
