COUNTER TO EMPIRE DAT. SOCIALIST SCHEME FALLS " FLAT. .(Received 10.20 a.m.) • LONDON, March 31. In view of the. almost general celebration of Empire Day in the schools, British Socialists circularised the labour organisations urging . a counter demonstration and the withdrawal of children from the schools. The Trades Council at Xeweastle-on-Tyne refused the request, and the indications are that the bulk of trade unionists are resolved to hold aloof from the proposal. 1
